THE ETHICAL ATHEIST
.
In my examination, I've determined that I cannot prove God doesn't exist, yet I can question Gods existence due to the many contradictions surrounding the teachings of the Bible, my observations of humanity and events that occur around me, the contradictions among religions, the laws of science and the historical atrocities committed in the name of God.

On each occasion, while strolling through a bookstore, that my eyes happen to fall upon the label of a particular section of books - I find it comical that they have been unnecessarily redundant in labeling the section. That section for which I speak is "Religious Fiction".

The Bible is God's revelation to the many people who wrote it. God revealed God's self to them in ways humankind had never known before; has never know since; and, in fact, did NOT even know at that time. It should be viewed as a fictional account derived purely for human gain in a troubled time in our history.

(inspired in part by a statement by Episcopal priest Nancy Brown who wrote us on 5/26/2002)
You can tell a lot about the character of someone who possesses great wealth, yet owns few materialistic items typically held by such people; he does not place a high value on the consumeristic aspects promoted by our society. On the other hand, he may just be highly fearful and extremely eccentric!

The average life span of humans throughout history has been a little over 30 years. If we are God's divine creation and all other animals were placed here for us; it makes one wonder if maybe God has an even more special place in his heart for Tortoises and Macaws.
- Ethical Atheist, 4/20/2002
Christianity continues to stubbornly believe in fictional nonsense. Maybe we need to paste holograms certifying authenticity on every individual thing on earth - this way Christians would know that THIS is what's real.

It sure is a shame that "God" didn't provide us with a clearer, more understandable description of the world and universe that he created, isn't it? One that didn't need constant reconciliation with the findings of science... One that didn't need to be explained as metaphors... One that didn't require up to four levels of meaning in any Scriptural passage. It seems that if he made the whole place and made us, that he could clearly and unambiguously communicate his construction in a way that could not be confused, right? This version would provide scientifically testable information. There is no reason he could not have provided this nor could not provide it still. Maybe he could give us a second Bible that was a tech-guide to the universe and speak through Stephen Hawking??? Then, we could quit wasting all of our time with scientific inquiry and just refer to the Book of Hawking [392:619] to understand what happened during the big bang or if there even was one.

Isn't there enough damning evidence of the scientific blunders promoted by the Church, that we need not spin conspiracies and myths of flat earth thinking as claimed by Jeffrey Burton Russell? If the goal of "secular writers" was to bring the lack of scientific knowledge in the Church to light, don't we have enough clear proof of this in the areas of geology, paleontology, astronomy, biology, evolution, planetary motion and the health sciences, to name a few?
- Ethical Atheist, 4/27/2002, in commenting on Russell's claims against secular writers, from the eBook entitled "The Flat Earth: A Detailed Study of Historical Thinking on the Shape of the Earth"
Excuse me, but did you find that book incorrectly filed in non-fiction?!- Ethical Atheist, 12/7/2001, In response to book bashing efforts by religious conservatives, specifically the Harry Potter series. These books are fiction and should be treated as such. Our children are not "going to the dark side" of witchcraft and wizardry by reading fiction. It is no different than Dr. Seuss, The Hobbit, Hansel and Gretel or the Bible. They are all fictional fantasies!
One can only assume that the Lord was on vacation on Dec 5th! Clayton Waagner believed the Lord was leading him and ensuring his safety. The Lord has been taking a lot of vacation days lately such as September 11th, 2001.- Ethical Atheist 12/8/2001, commenting on Waagner's capture on Dec 5, 2001

Christmas is a very special time which I hold close to my heart because the holidays give me considerable time to further my atheist writings...
