Jerry Falwell on Muhammad & Moses
(another misguided rant)
Jerry Falwell consistently spews false statements.  In an interview with the CBS program "60 minutes", he discussed Islam's prophet Muhammad.  He said, "I think Muhammad was a terrorist".  He further concluded from reading Muslim and non-Muslim writers that Muhammad was "a violent man, a man of war".  He attempted to contrast his view of Islam with a nice, loving Christian history saying that, "Jesus set the example for love, as did Moses.  I think Muhammad set an opposite example."

These claims could not be further from the truth.  Moses was an extremely violent 'killing machine' who waged war everywhere he went.  He condoned murder and rape of men, women and children!  In fact, he commanded his army to do just that, along with stealing others belongings and burning entire cities to the ground.  Is this what Jerry Falwell calls an example of love?!  If Moses were to commit these 'examples of love' today, he would be on trial at the Hague for war crimes.  Aren't we tired of attempts to rewrite history by religiously motivated people?

Let's take a look at the 'loving' Moses as recalled in the Bible's fourth book of Moses titled Numbers:

31:3:  And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Mid'i-anites, and avenge the LORD of Mid'i-an.

31:7:  And they warred against the Mid'i-anites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.

31:9:  And the children of Israel took all the women of Mid'i-an captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.

31:10:  And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.

31:17: Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

31:18: But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

In Exodus, we learn of more murdering of innocent children:

11:4-5  "And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts."

"Well, Jerry Falwell, if this is the kind of love you are promoting, we don't want any!"
