BEWARE THE ELEPHANT
IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING
(on a Republican controlled government...)
What happened to the Republican Party of old?  Traditionally, Democrats stood for big government and Republicans stood for less government.  Now, under Bush's Republican administration, we have witnessed the largest increase in government bureaucracy in more than 50 years with the combining of 22 separate federal agencies under the Department of Homeland Security.  What happened to their platform supporting private industry and capitalism?  The Republicans, now pressured by their aging masses, are proposing a massive new national health care program funded by taxpayers.  The Bush administration is worried of losing the elderly vote in 2004.  So, we are seeing the Elephant mascot of the Republican Party dressing up in sheep's clothing (or better yet, donkey's clothing) for votes.

However, one thing has NOT changed with the Republican Party.  They are still the party wanting to put religion back into schools, laws and the court system.  They are still the party which provides a platform (and funding) for such religious fanatics as Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell; and created the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI).

Beware of the Religious Party during the next two years...  as they
control the White House, Senate, Congress & U.S. Supreme Court!
A recent article in the November issue of Fortune [1] told us what to expect from the new Congress over the next two years.  We read it with great interest.  However, the main issue, in our opinion, was completely ignored by the Fortune article - the religious agenda of Republicans during their rein of complete power.  We fear the next two years will be a major setback to America's Separation of Church and State.  We expect that many religious-conservatives will be appointed to our court system.  With the conservative, Republican majority, they will likely slide through the confirmation process like holy water off a duck's back.  If a vacancy appears in the U.S. Supreme Court, be prepared for the nomination of a conservative believer.  Also be prepared to revisit many important issues such as Roe vs. Wade, religious funding and God-based everything in government facilities and offices.
Be Prepared to Act!
Know your Senators and Congressmen!  Write them on upcoming issues that concern you.  Use email, not our U.S. Postal Service.  Most paper letters are still not making it to their governmental destinations in a timely manner following Sept 11th.  Please visit our page Contact your Government to find email addresses.  Your voice has never been more important than now.  The Republican advantage in the House and Senate isn't large.  By helping to sway a few critical votes, we can help save our country from a significant setback in our hard fought battles of the past.
Surprising Number of Atheists & Agnostics
Were Once Republican?!
Hard to believe?  We know many non-believers that, at one time in their lives, voted with the Elephant Party.  Why?  Because many of us believe in small government which used to mean less control over our lives.  However, the religious-conservative agenda of certain Republican leaders forced us to move towards the Democratic Party.  And, with the current "Elephant in Donkey's Clothing", the choice is limited, isn't it?  Will Republicans ever realize that they might get a lot more votes if they didn't allow religion to hijack their party?

"What, me worry?"
